Description of Work Tyrrell Prison Work Farm is a minimum custody facility.
This position will continuously observe and patrol the work areas in Food Service; perform crisis intervention counseling; compose and write comprehensive reports; perform rescue functions.
Position will be responsible for operating locking devices and maintaining keys.
Must be able to tolerate verbal and mental abuse from inmates.
Must be able to input and comprehend computer data.
Must be able to read, comprehend, and calculate menus.
Must adhere to and observe sanitary food handling practices.
Must be able to requisition food and supplies with an allotted budget.
Will instruct and supervise subordinate staff.
Must be able to make emergency decisions concerning Food Service operations as well as plan and develop operating procedures.

) To qualify for this position, applicants must document on the application that they possess ALL of the following: Documented knowledge of large-scale food production and food service activities.
Documented supervision of employees and/or inmate workers.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and two years of experience in institutional food preparation and food services, in management of a commercial food service operations, or as a Correctional Officer, or one year as a Correctional Food Service Officer; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Special Qualifications Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
