Description: OVERVIEW: As a Certified Nursing Assistant, I provide health care for clients and patients under the direction of a registered nurse.
They often help patients perform day-to-day tasks and play a vital role at the hospital.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES: Providing physical support for patients or residents with daily activities and personal hygiene, including bathing, dressing, getting out of bed, using the bathroom, walking, standing, and exercising Turning and repositioning bedridden patients Obtaining a wide range of information from physicians, caregivers and nurses about patient condition, treatment plans and suggested activities Measuring and recording food and liquid intake, urinary/fecal output, and reporting changes in medical or nursing staff Recording vital signs, including blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and respiration rate as requested by staff.
Examining patients to detect issues requiring medical care, including open wounds, bruises, or blood in urine Noting observations of patient behavior, including complaints, or physical symptoms to nurse RESPONSIBILITIES/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS: Answering patient calls and determining the best course of action to assist the patient Stay current on CNA training and facility policy and procedures Perform any other duties that may be necessary for the operation of the corporation and/or hospital Requirements: QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma State Certified Nursing Assistant Certification Current CPR Certification Nursing degree from CNA program PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Frequent mobility and/or sitting required for extended periods of time Manual dexterity and use of a calculator or computer keyboard.
Varied activities including standing, walking, reaching, bending, lifting Occasionally lifts to 50 pounds Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal ranges Requires working under stressful conditions or working irregular hours Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionization radiation, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a hospital and/or clinic environment
