gov/state-employee- resources/benefits Primary Purpose of the Position: Provides front-line customer services to all visitors; greets school and bus tour groups, assists with parking and unloading of groups.
Key Responsibilities: Provides information and assistance to visitors; handles visitor complaints and problems; identifies safety issues, maintains visitor accident log, investigates visitor accidents and injuries.
Opens and secures building at the beginning and end of each day; provides presence in all areas of the Aquarium and grounds.
Provides special events and after-hours facility rental security.
This person must have experience working with the general public and have excellent customer service skills.
The North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island is located in Manteo, NC, nine miles from the Atlantic coastline in Nags Head.
The 61,000 square-foot facility is sited on 16 acres overlooking the Croatan Sound and houses over 2,200 animals.
More than 280,000 guests visit the aquarium each year to see a large array of sharks, learn about sea turtle conservation, participate in a variety of programs, enjoy the beauty of the area, and learn why North Carolina's waterways are so special.
The mission of the North Carolina Aquariums is to inspire appreciation and conservation of North Carolina's aquatic environments.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies Qualified candidates must have or be able to: Working knowledge with the use of a two-way communication system and/or security surveillance system.
Holidays, evenings, and weekends required as needed.
Ability to pull/push table carts.
Must be CPR and First Aid Certified or have the ability to obtain certification for employment.
Must have a valid NC Driver's License or the ability to obtain one within 30 days of employment.
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
Management Preferences: Working knowledge of standard safety and security operations at a customer service-oriented facility Working knowledge of documenting standard methods of handling and reporting emergencies Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Some state job postings say you can qualify by an “equivalent combination of education and experience.
