We are selling our 1988 O’day 272 due to not having time to properly maintain/sail her anymore.
She’s in great shape, and we want it to stay that way.
I’d much rather see it go to someone else who can get better use out of it than we currently are.
“Libertad 2” Lives up to its name.
This is an awesome boat for eastern NC.
The draft is under three feet and it handles good in a nice wide range of inland weather, from light winds up to 20 knots being the comfortable range I’ve found.
Interior: - Good shape, and dry, but like any boat this age it isn’t pristine - Head currently doesn’t work - 30 gallon water tank with electric galley sink and manual head sink - 2 burner butane stove, works amazing.
- Ice box insulated well and holds plenty of ice - Fold down table - Large emergency bilge pump with auto float switch - Inflatable Intex Mariner dinghy with oars is stowed in quarter berth.
- Upholstery is all in great shape - VHF Radio - 1000 Watt inverter - Convenient Usb outlets in v-berth and behind starboard side settee - USB fan - Dehumidifyer Exterior: - Mainsail and headsail are in good shape - Mainsail has one reef point - Lazyjacks - All lines except lazy jacks lead to cockpit for easy handling - Raymarine depth sounder and wind instrument work amazing.
Speed gauge has never worked well.
- Working raymarine autopilot - Shore power plug - 2020 Yamaha 9.
9 HP has very few hours on it and has been well maintained.
Super reliable, haven’t had any issues - 6 gallon fuel tank and fuel filter.
I always use non-ethanol gas and treat the fuel with SeaFoam additive.
- Motor mount is new, and works great.
- Mast ladder - Mast harness - Fenders - Aluminum anchor and 100 feet of rode/chain.
Rode has measurement labels to help judge anchor scope, really nice anchoring setup and have only dragged once or twice in bad conditions.
- Additional oversized galvanized backup anchor in lazarette - Anchor light and running lights all work - Rod holders - DIY shade canopy that covers cockpit and companionway for shade when at anchor or motoring - Swim ladder makes access to the water really easy, unlike a lot of boats in this age/class - Nice large lazarette - Propane grill that attaches nicely to the stern railing - Boat was last hauled out for bottom paint March 2022 and had NO blisters, keel was in great shape as well.
In these waters, bottom paint is probably good for at least another season.
Multiple coats of bottom paint were applied when it was last hauled.
This boat definitely needs TLC here and there, but it’s been used and maintained well.
We’ve had a lot of fun with it but are downsizing to a smaller boat that works better with our current lifestyle.
