Are you interested in developing leadership skills and experience that will prepare you for a career in natural resources, conservation biology, ecology, and/or parks & recreation? Then this is the job for you! Raleigh Parks, Recreation, & Cultural Resources is proud to offer the opportunity to join the Partnership Raleigh Conservation Intern Program (PRCIP); a nine-week summer employment program that is open to young adults (ages 19 to 23).
Preferred applicants will have an interest in a natural resource, environmental sciences, conservation biology, and/or a parks and recreation management.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Two (2) Crew Leader positions will be hired to lead a group of 8-10 young adults (ages 16 to 18) over eight weeks during the summer to accomplish a variety of natural resources-related projects throughout many of Raleigh’s Parks and Nature Preserves.
The majority of this work will focus on land management and land stewardship practices including invasive species control, wildlife habitat improvement, trail construction & maintenance, ecological monitoring, and much more.
Applicants should be comfortable working outdoors, taking on a leadership role, and working with groups to accomplish shared goals.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
• Program Term: June 3rd to August 2nd, 2024 (Holidays on June 19th and July 4th) • Pay Rate: $17/hour • Work Hours: 7:45am-4:15pm Monday-Thursday, 8am-12:00pm on Fridays * Raleigh PRCR will work with participants enrolled in academic institutions to fulfill internship credits required to complete approved programs.
Raleigh PRCR is unable offer internship credit to participants without an affiliation to an academic institution.
