JOB SUMMARY: Set up and operate all production machines (cut-to-length, brake, shear, punch press, saws, etc.
) following written and verbal instructions, closely adhering to company standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Set up and operate all production machines to perform the direct function of the department.
Inspect material upon selection, reporting any deviation from standard to Supervisor.
Cut-to-length operator is responsible for sheet and plate area.
Follow written and verbal instructions, sketches, diagrams and standard procedures closely adhering to company quality standards.
Detect and report faulty operations, materials and working conditions to supervisor.
Use safety equipment as instructed.
Follow safety regulations and company policies.
Maintain work area, equipment and tools in clean orderly condition.
Promote 5S concept of order and housekeeping.
Perform other duties and cross-train as required or assigned.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Good working knowledge of production machines, their set up, maintenance and safeguarding.
Requires the use of math and various measuring devices in interpreting and following written instructions and engineering drawings.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Physical fitness to perform all functions of designated work areas.
This includes small tool use, full arm and leg range of motion, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, work in awkward positions, talking and hearing.
Employee must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 35#, frequently lift and/or move up to 55# and occasionally lift and/or move up to 70#.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
